Dan Quayle Was Right
Potato may be spelled with an "e" or without one, but single parenting is not ideal for kids. Dan Quayle was right on the more important issue. So though I'm a little late (almost a year) noticing this article ("20 years later, it turns out Dan Quayle was right about Murphy Brown and unmarried moms"), I can't fail to post it. I see the effects of single parenting and broken families weekly. As a dad with a stay-at-home-wife and two small children, I often think to myself, "This would be so...
A Podcast Worth Listening To
I haven't been able to get into podcasts much; I just don't have much opportunity to listen to stuff. But to my tech life I recently added a bluetooth headset and a (finally) working smartphone (T-Mobile no-contract $30/mo. plan and a used Craigslist phone), and podcasts have come roaring back into spare moments driving or cleaning. Insight from Psalm 1
My wife and I were reading Psalm 1 in the Holman Christian Standard Bible, and the way it chose to translate the familiar verse Psalm 1:2 yielded a small insight. This is how I memorized Psalm 1:2 in the KJV: His delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psa 1:2) This is how the HCSB translates it: His delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. (Psa 1:2) A distant authority you never meet can hand down laws (and there's...
