ABOUT MARK WARD

Mark Ward Sr on Football

I thought my post on football might bring my father, with his careful reasoning, out of the woodwork; he didn't disappoint. I asked his permission to post the email he sent me, and it was granted: I’ve followed your football blog posts and respect your thoughtful approach.  🙂 Then, too, the wisdom that (hopefully) comes with age can acknowledge how times change: 1. When I was growing up in the 1960s, football was the only fall sport for boys. There were no soccer leagues and no fall...

JA! In Which I Answer the Top Biblioblogger

Doug Wilson wrote a post asking a provocative question about Bible translations. I wrote a post for the Logos Talk Blog answering that question. One of the top bibliobloggers out there just flatly contradicted my answer—the title of his is a (Barth-like) "NEIN!" I wrote the following comment on his blog, and will post it here as well: JA! Answering Joel Beeke on the KJV

I'm super late to the party on this one, but I just ran across an article by Joel Beeke offering thirteen "Practical Reasons for Retaining the KJV." Dr. Beeke is respected for good reason, and I have profited in multiple ways from his ministry. He also avoids the extremes of much of the KJV-Only movement. However, I cannot agree with his conclusion, nor with most of his points. I failed in my efforts to resist the temptation to answer each one... Here's a screenshot of the post, followed by my...

Edwards Manuscripts

The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale, assisted by the Jonathan Edwards Center, recently completed a high-resolution scan of the entire Edwards Collections at both Yale University and Andover Newton Theological School. To view and use the scans, click here and read the instructions carefully. I've been to the Beinecke—an amazing place—and seen and touched original Edwards manuscripts. I encourage anyone looking for professional development opportunities to consider attending...
