Logos Deal for BJU Students Ends Thursday, February 5

The twice- or thrice-yearly BJU Logos Bible Software sale is on, but only for another week and a half. I use and appreciate Logos Bible software. I recommend it as a close-to-essential (that is, close to BibleWorks) tool for seminary and ministry. A McLuhanesque Caveat As time passes, however, my concerns do grow about the message contained in the medium of electronic books. You don't want to write a dissertation, for example, by reading all of your sources piecemeal the way electronic books...

Radio Lab: A This American Life Alternative

Before I got married I used to spend a bit more time listening to MP3s... There's been a marked drop-off in my listening time. Pauline Theology

A new feminist wave has hit theological scholarship. It's called "Pauline Theology." Scholars who hold this view are especially incensed at Paul's discrimination against women. Women can't be pastors; they can't even speak in church. And it's all Paul's fault. Apparently the "Priscilla Papers" weren't enough for these hyper-egalitarians, these Pauline...

The Five Tenants of Calvinism

Approximately 30 different sites on the Internet make reference to the "five tenants of Calvinism." None of them, however, has revealed who those five tenants are. So now, for the first time in the history of the Internet, I will reveal every one of the five tenants: John Calvin - room "T" Jonathan Edwards - room "U" Charles Spurgeon - room "L" Abraham Kuyper - room "I" John Piper - room "P" (he also rents rooms "B" and "D", according to the records) Some uncomfortable questions are left...

Evolutionary Hymn by C. S. Lewis

Evolutionary Hymn Lead us, Evolution, lead us Up the future's endless stair; Chop us, change us, prod us, weed us. For stagnation is despair: Groping, guessing, yet progressing, Lead us nobody knows where. Wrong or justice, joy or sorrow, In the present what are they while there's always jam-tomorrow, While we tread the onward way? Never knowing where we're going, We can never go astray. To whatever variation Our posterity may turn Hairy, squashy, or crustacean, Bulbous-eyed or square of...
