Church leaders must be made “to take homosexuality off the sin list.”

“Made to” means you can lose your business, your tax-exemption, and other things that moth and rust can corrupt—but are nonetheless scary to contemplate having taken from you, flesh as we are.

We’d better be glad, therefore, that we have a thoughtful, orthodox (as far as this column goes) defender. Here’s a theological argument that ought to be ready on the lips of every Christian:

At Christianity’s bedrock is the idea that we are all in the grip of an unchosen condition, an “original” problem that our wills alone cannot overcome. So homosexuality’s deep origin is not a trump card against Christian teaching.
