Review: The Pastor’s Kid: Finding Your Own Faith and Identity

The Pastor's Kid: Finding Your Own Faith and Identity by Barnabas Piper My rating: 3 of 5 stars I admit I was curious to hear what the son of one of my favorite authors would say about his upbringing... But I believe I can honestly say that my most powerful motivation in picking up this (audio) book was to gain wisdom about how to spare my own children from as many of the negative consequences of being a "PK" as possible. A Grace Story

David and Stephanie Heimann are valued friends to my wife and me, they are colaborers in ministry, and they are both objects of God's amazing grace. They were recently baptized after coming to understand over time that their initial professions of faith were not genuine. This is tricky. You don't want inveterate doubters to get rebaptized, and you don't want to comfort unregenerated people by appealing to doubtful professions. I trust David and Stephanie (and my church's pastoral staff) to...

The Wrong Side of History?

I don't make a practice of reblogging stuff, especially if it's on a blog I'm guessing a lot of my readers already see. But the three quotes below, collected by Justin Taylor, were so excellent that I had to make certain to pass them on and add my two cents. The quotes have to do with one—in my opinion, increasingly common—rhetorical jab pointed at opponents of same-sex marriage, namely that we are "on the wrong side of history." First my two cents: Why should history be right? "The wrong side...
