Stephen Jones on Race at BJU

I appreciated these careful and gracious and scriptural comments from Dr. Stephen Jones.

I was particularly struck by Dr. Jones’ use of Titus 3:3, which I had never thought to apply to ethnic divisions:

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. (Titus 3:3)

Stephen also repeated something he’s said before, that when it comes to ethnic diversity,

My burden for the University is that we increasingly look like the nation around us.

I preach weekly to a little congregation that is about half African-American and half white. Titus 3:3 is one I’m going to hang on to.
