    Ahh, yes. The certain HTML encoding imperfections in these old texts from a century ago. Amazon must have had access to a more originaler artifact.

    OUCH! I’m having flashbacks to my time working on a certain high school literature anthology I coauthored in a formed life. One of the things I oversaw on that project was the OCR text conversion process. On more than one occasion, the text was too old + our software was too primitive = I had to rewrite entire texts by hand, one word at a time … ugh.

      Sometimes I’ve found it takes more energy to correct errors in OCR text than just to type it all out myself.
