It was a black Friday indeed, but I had to do it. I sold my MacBook and bought a Sony Vaio. I have to have BibleWorks and Logos 4, and my somewhat older MacBook just wasn’t able to handle virtualizing Windows anymore. Rather than shell out $100-plus for a copy of Vista or 7 to run in Bootcamp, I just sold out and took advantage of BestBuy’s major Black Friday doorbuster, a Sony Vaio (320GB 4GB Intel Dual Core 2.10 GHz) for just $400. I had to order it at 6 am Thanksgiving Day to get it, but I didn’t have to wait in any lines.

I still have an iMac for design.

After one afternoon of use, I have to admit that Windows 7 is pretty neat. I like the new dock and the overall better GUI. I was interested to see that my Vaio came with Google Chrome preinstalled, but not Firefox.

Why do I get the feeling that my mac friends loose all sense of objectivity when I speak with them about their computers? 🙂

Whoa – Vaio, eh? That’s like the Macintosh of PCs (quite expensive, generally), so I guess it makes sense 😉 And yes – Windows 7 is great. However, I’m still running Linux on my laptop 😀

That’s a shame that it wasn’t virtualizing well, though… what were you using?

I was using Parallels, which works great on my iMac but didn’t fly on my MacBook. But the MacBook was about three years old, and it used to work pretty well for a long time.
