I know the KJV isn’t as “cool” today as the ESV, but let’s not forget that it was originally “appointed to be read in churches.” Old verbiage or not, it still sounds great. I was actually surprised by how well I retained (and understood) long passages from the OT after I had listened.
Wow, great deal. A third of the price of the Crossway audio bibles. However in comparing the narrators, I think I prefer the Crossway version with David Heath over Johnson on these. (I have been using esv.org for a while to listen. I kind of enjoyed Max McLean even with that weird synthesizer background. But Heath has now become my favorite [using the esvstudybible.com site])
Also interesting how the Johnson recording is on 3 CDs verses Crossway 6. I wonder what the bit rate is. The publisher didn’t have it listed.
