That was great! A true joy to watch and hear! I thought words like kerning and leading were extinct. It brought back some old memories, (too old) and while I find it difficult to accept two individuals were collectively responsible for 10K views, that aside; what a pleasure. Your audience also asked some great questions.
So, you were a graphic designer Mark. When I “creatively” finished HS and began my first year at NYU, people were using copy and paste, but on design boards. Remember those? Not even close to Aldus’ 1st PageMaker, let alone today’s Adobe Design and Web Premium. I took a job with a Printer after my 1st year was completed and was soon running one of his 6-station process color Heidelbergs. 5 years later I graduated and shortly after that, Aldus was born (later purchased by Adobe) and released PageMaker, the very 1st “DTP” Desktop Publishing Application that worked with the early Macs and IBM’s, used as the front end for all typesetting and design, integrated with image-setters, like the old Linotype 300.
I stuck around that industry for about 5 years and the company evolved into an IT Reseller and Service Provider and I was bitten by the IT bug. Six years at NYU first earning my undergrad “BS Phy” and then my Masters “MA PHIL,” and I get tempted away by silicon. Then again, they served (and continue to) as a good foundation for what would become my passion, Apologetics.
Anyway, I began to do what you were discussing about 10 years ago, but only using partial chapters. It seems I had a narrow view then and saw what as was doing as a study tool I could read through and retain better.
I have begun recently using the NA28, initially placing any spaces based on my opinion on how the text is best enjoyed in a reader’s version. That is the only problem I see Mark.
Another person may read scripture differently in Greek from how I would. Not sure what you think of that or if it matters, but I also realized during this post, I may not need to reinvent the wheel and I forgot to ask over at the B-Greek forum if anyone has already done this. If not, I’ll keep plugging at it, I welcome any suggestions, but it’s easy enough to check “Bible Text Only,” and go into word and begin reading.
A small example of how I would divide: Πρός Θεσσαλονικείς Α’ 4.13-18
Οὐ θέλομεν δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν, ἀδελφοί, περὶ τῶν κοιμωμένων, ἵνα μὴ λυπῆσθε καθὼς καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ οἱ μὴ ἔχοντες ἐλπίδα. εἰ γὰρ πιστεύομεν ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἀνέστη, οὕτως καὶ ὁ θεὸς τοὺς κοιμηθέντας διὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἄξει σὺν αὐτῷ.
