You Just Have to Read This

I posted on this some time ago, but I have thought of it so often that I have to post it again: Wheaton prof Timothy Larsen’s thoughts on why so many Christians feel that the teaching they received as children was simplistic. Very insightful, penetrating. A must-read for a generation of (often ex-) fundamentalists who are, I think, often a little too harsh on those who nurtured them.

Our leaders from those days will have to give an account for their teaching and their actions, and I don’t want to excuse bad exegesis, autocratic and/or big-man leadership, or legalism (whatever that really is). But the responsibility of the rising generation is to consider the possibility that old Bob Jones Sr was right: “No doubt the trouble is with you.”
